Rockson Awarded Kaduna Power Station Contract

A consortium consisting of General Electric Oil & Gas (Nuove Pignone) of Florence, Italy and Rockson Engineering of Port Harcourt, Nigeria are pleased to announce the signing of the Contract Agreement to build a 200 megawatt Dual Fired Power Station in Kaduna, Nigeria with the Federal Minstry of Power, Nigeria.

The scope of work includes:

  • The manufacture and supply of 8 General Electric Frame 5 Dual Fuel Gas Turbines in Florence, Italy and shipment to Nigeria
  • The design, engineering and procurement of the balance of the plant
  • Installation, construction, testing and commissioning of the whole project to produce 200MW at ISO using either LPFO (Low Pour Fuel Oil) or Natural Gas Fuel.

The project also includes the necessary faciities for a fully functional Power Station and modifications to the PHCN Old Power Station site in Kaduna, Kaduna State.

The project was advertised through international media and bid on a competitive basis in accordance with International Bidding Regulations and Practices. The consortium of General Electric Oil & Gas and Rockson Engineering was the successful bidder and has been awarded the contract on that basis.

We, the consortium, are honoured to be given the opportunity of contributing to the improvement of electricity generation in Nigeria and congratulate and thank the Federal Ministry of Power. In particular, the Honourable Minister for Power, Dr Rilwan Olanrewaju Babalola for his great vision, and the Honourable Minister for State, Architect Nuhu Somo Wya for his determination.
